This scheme provides grants for the installation of new zero or low carbon heating systems such as heat pumps or biomass boilers. Find out more about air-source heat pumps.
What is available?
Grants are available for:
- £7,500 towards air source heat pumps or ground/water source heat pumps
- £9,000 temporary grant for air or ground source heat pumps in off-gas grid properties replacing oil or LPG (available until 31 March 2027)
- £5,000 towards a biomass boiler (if the property is off the gas grid in a rural area)
- £2,500 towards residential air-to-air heat pumps
Who is this available to?
The boiler upgrade scheme is available to property owners (including owner-occupiers, landlords and businesses) who:
- have a valid Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) with no outstanding recommendations for cavity wall or loft insulation
- have or plan to install a new heating system after 01 April 2022
- are replacing a fossil fuel heating system such as oil, gas or electric
How do I get access to grant funding?
To get access to a grant, you’ll first need to contact a suitable MCS certified installer. Search for an installer here. After contacting an installer, they will be able to confirm your eligibility. Once you have agreed a quote with your chosen installer, they will make the application for the grant on your behalf.
