What is on offer?
If you are eligible for the scheme and your appliances are over eight years old, you may be able to receive up to two free replacement. These will be replaced with newer more efficient models which will help reduce your energy use. This is a like for like replacement scheme so you will have to be in possession of an appliance to have it replaced. The following are available for replacement:
- Air fryer
- Electric blanket
- Electric dehumidifier
- Electric heated airer
- Freezers
- Fridges
Who is it available to?
The free appliance replacement scheme is available to those on low income or income support. It doesn’t matter if you’re a homeowner, privately renting or renting from the council as long as you’re responsible for your appliances. You will need to be referred into the scheme. - Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
- Income Support
- Pension Guarantee Credit
- Child Tax Credit / Working Tax Credit
- Universal Credit
- Housing Benefit
OR
- Total annual household income less than £31,000
How can I get my white goods replaced?
You have to be referred into this scheme through The Energy and Money Saving Service.
