Free white goods replacement scheme

Who is it available to?

The free white goods replacement scheme is available to those on low income or income support. It doesn’t matter if you’re a homeowner, privately renting or renting from the council as long as you’re responsible for your white goods. You will need to be referred into the scheme. Please find the eligibility below.

  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Income Support
  • Pension Guarantee Credit
  • Child Tax Credit / Working Tax Credit
  • Universal Credit
  • Housing Benefit

OR

  • Total annual household income less than £31,000

What is on offer?

If you are eligible for the scheme and your white goods are over 8 years old, you may be able to receive a free replacement for your white goods. These will be replaced with newer more efficient models which will help reduce your energy use. This is a like for like replacement scheme so you will have to be in possession of a white good to have it replaced. The following white goods are available for replacement:

  • Electric cooker
  • Freezers
  • Fridges
  • Washing machines
